• Would understanding the condition of your electrical assets be useful? YES, it will be useful
The condition of the asset is the state at which the asset finds itself as a result of stresses acting upon them. Stresses lead to change in plant properties and thus effect the ability of the plant to perform its function. These stresses have been broadly defined for most assets as Electrical, Thermal, Mechanical, Environmental, etc. However, if we explain stresses in terms of a single asset, we can achieve an understanding that is unambiguous and uncomplicated.
Let us consider a Transformer and more specifically the active part of the transformer. Transformers are application specific and hence are manufactured with a wide variety of types and sizes. However, there are common set of stresses that results in deterioration and failure. These stresses are as follows:
  • Dielectric Stress: Associated with the degradation of the solid and liquid insulation system.
  • Thermal Stress: Is the accelerated ageing of the transformer as a consequence of excessive heating.
  • Mechanical Stress: Is the excessive electromagnetic and mechanical forces.
As such all faults can be classified as Dielectric, Thermal and Mechanical faults. Hence, if we want to assessment the transformer it will be essential to assess the DielectricThermal and Mechanical condition. Hence, it is paramount to understand these conditions to ensure that your transformer can endure the stress for a normal or abnormal network conditions and any undue external events.

Services

Performance Scrutiny
Performance Scrutiny is a series of online and offline tests to establish the performance of the asset under normal or fault conditions. Performance Scrutiny has proven for decades to be a valuable tool but requires expert diagnostics through sound engineering theory and extensive experience.

Test Data Analytics (You Test, We Analyse)
(based a diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive outcomes)
The interpretation of test results has always been a challenge in the absence of the international technical expert community producing “guidelines” and/or “numbers” to aid in interpretation of test data. However, a number of tests do not have a defined or absolute values and hence the asset owner must rely on experience and a sound engineering principle. Congru Solutions provides the service of data analytics which is backed by our decades of experience and reference database of plant operating in our local conditions.

Transformer Condition Assessment Strategy
(with Health Indices/Risk Indices for Transformer Fleet Management)
Congru Solutions offers customers bespoke condition assessment strategy assessment that will give credibilty to operational and financial decisions. Congru Solutions condition assessment strategies is broadly based on three approaches namely Fleet Appraisal, Fleet Survey and Fleet Scrutiny.

Our Training

The Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) Strategic Plan document states:
“An increase in skilled and professional people will be required for construction of additional generation capacity and the management of new plants. Increased maintenance will require additional artisans. Existing artisans will need to acquire new skills.”

In keeping with this sentiment Congru Solutions has developed courses adhering to this call by EWSETA.

Our Knowledge Base

Our Knowledge Base is the accumulation of decades of experience in the electrical engineering field. Being a strong advocate for and passionate about Knowledge Sharing in Africa we offer a series of free webinars with very useful technical information, free technical articles and papers and free case studies to share our experience with you.
